Georgetown Bowl opened it’s doors in 1976. Vic Sockrider began the business as the manager. The center opened and was a great addition to the East side of the city. Over the past twenty-seven years Georgetown Bowl has been an excellent recreation and gathering place in the community.
In February 2001 Vic and his new partner, Dave Kerschner, purchased both Georgetown and Village Bowl. As new business partners they enjoy the same ethics and business philosophy. Their goal is not only to provide an excellent environment for family recreation, but also to be a leader in the bowling business. Some of the programs Crazy Pinz proudly sponsor include: Quarters for Kids - a program to support Junior Achievement resulting in excess of $30,000 being donated over the past six years; PBA regional Professional Bowling Tournament - the 18th Annual Tournament was held in August bringing some of the greatest professional bowlers in the country to Fort Wayne; The Shoot Out at the Fort - one of the countries largest amateur tournaments with a first prize of $6,000; the Sit ‘n Bull - the areas most popular team tournament; and High School Bowling in Fort Wayne - both centers, Georgetown and Village are very active in this program which was, in part, the brain child of Vic and is entering its sixth year.
Future events scheduled are the 2004 Elk’s National Bowling Tournament which will be hosted by both Georgetown and Village Bowl, and the 2005 Indiana Men’s State Tournament to be held at Georgetown Bowl. The future looks very bright for bowling, and the people at these two centers are proud to be a part of it.
